Kazan, Russia – According to the International Cooperation and Engineering Services Export Department, on the sidelines of the 16th International Economic Forum "Russia-Islamic World: KazanForum," National Cartographic Center of Iran and e Federal Service for State Registration, Cadastre and Cartography (Russian Federation) Rosreestr, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance bilateral cooperation in geospatial technologies. 

 

The agreement establishes a framework for collaboration in exchange of advanced mapping technologies, development of geospatial data infrastructure and joint geomatics projects and research initiatives. Seyed Eskandar Seydaei, Director General of Iran's National Cartographic Center, described the MoU as "a significant step toward strengthening technical and scientific ties between our nations that will drive innovation in mapping technologies and their applications in land management." The Russian delegation highlighted the agreement's potential to expand bilateral cooperation in cadastral systems, geographic information systems (GIS), and remote sensing technologies, building on longstanding technical exchanges between the two countries. 

 

This agreement aligns with Iran's policy of expanding international cooperation in geospatial technologies and the government's broader strategy for regional partnerships. Experts view this MoU as a milestone in technical cooperation between the two countries, with potential applications in major regional projects through the combined utilization of their geospatial capabilities.

The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials from both organizations, underscoring the strategic importance of this collaboration for advancing geospatial technologies in the region.
